How to Fold a NordicTrack Skier

The original NordicTrack skier was introduced in the 1970s and enjoyed success due in part to the fitness boom of the '70s and '80s. Although NordicTrack reinvented itself by expanding into other types of exercise equipment in the 1990s, at the time of publication the company still produces and sells the Classic Pro version of its original skier, which hasn't changed much over the years. Although a few small details of how to fold a NordicTrack Skier vary between models, the general process remains the same.

Step 1

Slide the belt tensioner down the vertical support column to below the "1" setting. This gives you enough slack in the belt to fold the skier.

Step 2

Pull out on the pin that locks the hip pad in place, depress the snap buttons or unscrew the knob, depending on which model of the NordicTrack skier you have.

Step 3

Fold the hip pad up against the upright, then tighten the knob or replace the pin to lock it in place.

Step 4

Secure the arm-cord handles in their holders on the arm assembly. Support the arm assembly with one hand as you press the snap buttons that hold it in place against the upright support.

Step 5

Swing the arm assembly down against the upright support, then release the snap buttons.

Step 6

Support the upright tube with one hand as you either depress the snap buttons at its base or, depending on which skier model you have, loosen the tension knob slightly above the upright's base.

Step 7

Swing the upright flat against the skis; the hip pad should be sandwiched between the upright and the skis. If the upright is held in place by a tension knob, you'll need to lift it out of the base before you lower it onto the skis.

Step 8

Store the folded NordicTrack skier in the closet, resting on its back end, with the hip pad pointing down. You also can store it flat beneath a bed.
