You don't need exercise to get nice abs. To make your abs more visible, your body fat percentage has to be lower than 20 percent. By making simple changes to your lifestyle and habits, you can boost your metabolism and gently melt your body fat away.
Step 1
Reduce the size of your meals. Smaller meals will mean that your system is provided with fewer calories for the day. This way, your body will be forced to burn off your fat reserves to compensate for the deficit.
Step 2
Add jalapenos or cayenne pepper to your meals. These spices have thermogenic properties and compounds such as capsaicin that will boost your metabolism and increase the rate at which you burn fat for many hours after a meal.
Step 3
Eat fat-free fruits such as watermelon, apples and papaya. Because of their low calorie content, fruits will keep your daily calorie intake within healthy limits. Fruits also are rich sources of soluble fiber, which will improve your digestive system and keep you sated for longer periods.
Step 4
Avoid refined foods. This includes foods that have been made out of white flour or white sugar. Refined foods have very low nutritional value. They also contain a lot of calories that end up as body fat if you do not burn it all.
Step 5
Drink cold water. People sometimes mistake pangs of thirst for hunger. Drinking water regularly will keep you satisfied for longer periods. Your body also uses up more calories digesting cold water than it does warm water.
Step 6
Make your breakfast count. A healthy breakfast will kick start your body's metabolism and give you enough energy to get through the first half of your day. Eating a healthy breakfast also will prevent you from overeating later on.
Tips and Warnings
- Break your three standard meals into five smaller ones. Eating smaller meals five times a day will keep your metabolism primed. This will boost the rate at which your system burns belly fat.
