Rib-eye steaks are from the rib area of the steer, and have a good deal of marbling in the meat. They are a tender cut that comes in two ways, bone-in and boneless. Both are good choices for their tender and juicy meat. They are perfect for any dry method of cooking such as grilling or roasting.
Preparation
Step 1
Pour the soy sauce and Worcestershire sauce in a medium bowl and mix well. Submerge the rib eye in the marinade. Place it in the refrigerator for 4 to 6 hours before grilling it.
Step 2
Preheat your grill to medium heat, which is about 300 F. Adjust the heat by adding or removing small portions of charcoal. Brush the grilling surface with the vegetable oil to keep the steak from sticking to the grill.
Step 3
Place the rib eye on a clean plate. Season the meat with salt and pepper to taste. Allow the steak to rest while you prepare the grill for the steak.
Grilling
Step 1
Transfer the rib eye to the grill, and begin the grilling process. Grill the steak for 11 to 14 minutes for the boneless variety, and 9 to 12 minutes for the bone-in.
Step 2
Close the lid of the grill while grilling; this will keep the heat inside the grill and allow the temperatures to rise.
Step 3
Monitor the rib eye while it is grilling, check the temperature after 14 minutes. The temperature should be at least 145 F in order to be ready.
Step 4
Let the steak rest for at least 3 minutes before serving it. Add steak sauce or gravy to the steak for added flavor.
