Daily calorie intake on an HCG diet program is typically limited to between 500 to 800 calories. The meal plans call for lean protein and fresh fruits or vegetables. Refined carbohydrates such as white breads, pastas or sweets, and fatty foods, such as fried food or junk foods, are strictly prohibited. Some reports indicate that HCG can cause adverse physical side effects such as nausea or headaches, but conclusive data regarding these diet programs has not yet been gathered.
