Lacrosse is a sport of Native American origin that is played with a small ball and a stick, also called a crosse stick. The top of the stick holds a mesh net that is used to catch, carry and sling the ball into the opponent's goal. Protective equipment used when playing men's lacrosse include a helmet, shoulder pads, gloves and arm protection, all of which are required. While protective cups are not mandatory, they are recommended due to the physical nature of men's lacrosse.

Step 1

Put on a pair of boxer briefs or compression shorts on bare skin. These offer a barrier between the skin and the protective equipment and also serve to hold perspiration.

Step 2

Put on a jock strap over the shorts and position it to fit comfortably. The jock strap should be a regular strap and not a pouched jock strap.

Step 3

Insert the cup into the space between the shorts and the strap to fit comfortably over the penis and testicles.

Tips and Warnings

  • A pair of spandex shorts over the shorts, cup and strap will add further support.
