Corn on the cob suggests summertime and eating with friends and family. But even when summer has ended, you can enjoy corn on the cob cooked in the microwave. Using a Pyrex dish allows you to take the dish from the microwave straight to the dinner table. You can prepare several ears of corn as an accompaniment to baked chicken, hamburgers, salad, potato salad and fresh fruit salad.

Step 1

Remove the corn husks from the ears of corn. Wash the corm silks off by rubbing the ears gently between both hands under cool, running water.

Step 2

Place the unhusked and unsilked ears of corn in a Pyrex dish.

Step 3

Cover the Pyrex dish with plastic wrap and fold one corner back so steam can vent out.

Step 4

Microwave at 100 percent power for eight to nine minutes for four ears of corn. Leave the dish in the microwave for three minutes after the corn has cooked.

Tips and Warnings

  • Put the sink-plug stopper into the plug before washing the corn silks off the cobs. If you are microwaving two ears of corn, cook them at 100 percent power for four to six minutes, then allow them to rest in the microwave for three minutes.

Things You'll Need
