How to Get Rid of Tummy Aches With Home Remedies

You might experience a tummy ache in response to eating something that has irritated your stomach or during an illness such as a cold or flu. Stress, constipation and diarrhea can also cause stomach pain. How you get rid of the tummy ache depends on the cause, and several herbal remedies can relieve minor tummy aches. If you are pregnant, nursing or taking medication, consult your physician before using an herbal remedy.

Step 1

Mix 1 tsp. dried peppermint, 1 tsp. dried basil and 1 tsp. dried lemon balm. Steep the herbs in 1 cup of boiling water for 15 minutes, strain it through a mesh strainer and sweeten it with honey, if desired. Drink up to 3 cups per day for cramping and upset stomach.

Step 2

Steep 2 tbsp. chopped fresh ginger root in 1 cup of boiling water for 15 minutes. Strain it with a mesh strainer and sweeten it with honey, if desired. Drink up to 2 cups per day for nausea or indigestion.

Step 3

Steep 1 ½ tsp. blackberry leaves and 1 ½ tsp. raspberry leaves in 1 c. of boiling water for 15 minutes, strain it with a mesh strainer, and sweeten with honey, if desired. Drink up to 4 cups per day for tummy ache with diarrhea.

Step 4

Consume an over-the-counter, psyllium-based fiber supplement to treat constipation, which can cause a tummy ache. Purchase a supplement from a drug store and follow the manufacturer's dosing instructions.
