A balsamic-vinegar dipping sauce is a delicious complement to a rustic loaf of your favorite fresh, crusty bread. Balsamic dipping sauce uses a balsamic-vinegar reduction. Prepare a reduction by slow cooking it, so that some of the liquid evaporates. This creates a deeper flavor. Add your balsamic reduction to sauces or dressings, such as this refreshing dipping sauce intended to be served cold, along with fresh bread. The sauce combines the rich sweet-tart flavor of reduced balsamic vinegar with the freshness of basil and parsley.
Step 1
Saute the minced garlic in butter until it begins to turn golden, using a medium-sized saucepan over low heat.
Step 2
Add the balsamic vinegar and slowly bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat. Reduce the heat and simmer the mixture until it is reduced by about half, stirring occasionally.
Step 3
Set the vinegar mixture aside to cool.
Step 4
Add the olive oil, pepper, basil and parsley to the cooled vinegar mixture.
Step 5
Whisk the dipping sauce quickly for 10 seconds.
Step 6
Serve it in small bowls as a sauce, along with a fresh, sliced loaf of bread.
