Busy households benefit from the monthly organization of housework and meals. Not only will you not have to worry about what needs to be cooked for dinner nightly, but no one will feel overwhelmed by a large list of chores each weekend, because they are planned out over the month. Taking the time out of one day each month to set a plan greatly reduces stress levels throughout the month. After a while, you will have multiple months of plans that you can easily refer to when making new plans.
Step 1
Print two full-page calendars with ample room to write in each box. You may want to print four, so you have a rough draft and your finished product.
Step 2
Write out a list of chores you want completed each week and monthly on a separate sheet of paper. Include even the simplest chore, such as changing your air filter.
Step 3
Write down your family's favorite meals on the same sheet of paper as your chores list. Try to come up with at least 10 different dinners and multiple options for breakfast and lunch.
Step 4
Decide which chores you want to do on each day. For chores that must be completed daily, such as dishes, make a note on the bottom of your calendar.
Step 5
Place each chore in the box corresponding to what you want done. For example, if you want floors mopped each Wednesday, write "mop floors" in each box underneath the Wednesday label.
Step 6
Add each monthly chore to a specific day during the month. You may want to designate one day a week for completing the monthly chores.
Step 7
List a dinner meal for each day on the second printed calendar. If your family has a regular night they go out to eat, make note of that meal so you do not schedule too many home-cooked meals.
Step 8
Put lunch ideas on each day where you must provide lunch to your family. For many families, this is only needed on the weekends.
Step 9
List breakfast ideas for each day of the week. If your children eat breakfast at school, you can eliminate breakfast from your calendar except on weekends.
Step 10
Rewrite each calendar if they are messy and place on your refrigerator or on a bulletin board where your family can see them.
