You can jazz up your boxed pudding mix and make it taste more elegant with a few simple hints. Use condensed milk together with your packaged pudding mix to give the pudding a creamier flavor. Add cream cheese for a denser, thicker and richer pudding. Additionally, fold in whipped cream or whipped topping mix. Add sliced bananas for a scrumptious banana pudding or omit them for a classic vanilla pudding. If you would like to add a bit of extra crunch, line your serving dish with vanilla wafer cookies.

Step 1

Beat the cream cheese and condensed milk until creamy. Use a large mixing bowl and an electric or hand mixer on low speed.

Step 2

Add the pudding mix, cold milk and vanilla and continue to mix until the pudding is smooth.

Step 3

Fold in approximately half of the whipped cream or whipped topping. Reserve the rest to use as a garnish.

Step 4

Line the bottom of your serving dish with one layer of vanilla wafer cookies.

Step 5

Arrange the sliced bananas evenly over the wafers, if desired.

Step 6

Spread the pudding mixture over the wafers and chill the pudding for 60 minutes.

Step 7

Serve the pudding with the remainder of the whipped cream or whipped topping on top. Add mint sprigs for extra color, if desired.

Tips and Warnings

  • Mix the pudding at low speed to avoid splattering. To bring more creaminess to the dish, top the pudding with whipped topping or whipped cream.
