Bananas are sweet treats all on their own, but when dipped in chocolate they become a heavenly dessert that is also good for you. Bananas are an excellent source of fiber, potassium, riboflavin and niacin. Ripe bananas that are yellow and just starting to gather some brown spots are ideal for dipping in chocolate; the riper the bananas are, the sweeter the taste.

Step 1

Peel 4 bananas and cut about 1 inch off at either end.

Step 2

Stick a wooden stick halfway into the banana at the end that has been cut off.

Step 3

Place the bananas on a baking tray covered with parchment paper. Put the tray into the freezer for 1 hour.

Step 4

Bring a pot of water to a boil over high heat on the stove. Reduce the heat to simmer once the water boils.

Step 5

Place a bowl over the simmering water. Put the contents of a 16 to 24 oz. bag of semisweet chocolate chips and 4 tbsp. of unsalted butter into the bowl. Allow both to melt, stirring frequently.

Step 6

Remove the bananas from the freezer. Dip the bananas, one at a time, into the chocolate mixture. Swirl the banana around so that it is covered with the melted chocolate.

Step 7

Lay the dipped bananas back onto the parchment paper. Place the tray in the freezer once again when all of the bananas are covered in chocolate, for 1 hour.

Step 8

Transfer the chocolate dipped bananas to an airtight container and store in the freezer.
