Acne can show up virtually anywhere on the body, but it most commonly occurs on the oiliest part of your skin. Acne bumps can appear as blackheads, whiteheads or pustules, also known as pimples. Practice daily skin care to clear your cheeks and your mouth of these blemishes.
Step 1
Avoid irritants that can worsen acne bumps in these places. Don't touch your face or lean your face against your hands, allow your hair to hang in your face, or let the phone receiver touch your skin. Avoid eating greasy foods that can create more oil buildup on your mouth.
Step 2
Wash your face daily to remove oil, dirt and bacteria. Wash your face once a day if you have dry skin and two times a day if you have oily skin. Choose oil-free face wash that contains acne medication such as salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide.
Step 3
Apply facial lotion after washing your skin. Choose an oil-free, acne-specific lotion that is also noncomedogenic, which means it will not clog facial pores. Use just enough lotion to cover your entire face with a very thin layer.
Step 4
Use a spot treatment on your acne bumps after moisturizing your skin. Choose an over-the-counter cream that contains salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. Put a thin layer on each acne bump. Be careful not to ingest any od the cream when applying it around your mouth.
Step 5
Don't touch or pick at your acne. Squeezing an acne bump can irritate your skin, spread bacteria beneath the surface of the skin and cause scabs and scars. Be patient with your skin care regimen and allow the pimples to heal.
Step 6
Avoid wearing makeup to cover your acne. If you must wear makeup, choose a noncomedogenic brand. Some products also have acne-clearing properties to help fight breakouts.
