Fresh squeezed juices are nutritious and can be substituted for sugar-laden bottled fruit juices. Eating fruits and vegetables as close to the source as possible allows you to reap the nutritional benefits. Adding "green juice" from collard, spinach or kale greens adds vital phytonutrients to your diet and counts toward your daily recommended intake of vegetables. Fresh orange juice contains a large portion of your daily vitamin C. The easiest way to juice both oranges and collards is to use two different types of juicers: a citrus juicer and masticating juicer.

Juicing Oranges

Step 1

Cut several oranges in half. One medium orange will yield 1/3 to 2/3 cups of juice.

Step 2

Place one half of an orange in a citrus juicer.

Step 3

Press down with the handle to squeeze the orange juice out.

Step 4

Continue with the remaining oranges.

Juicing Collards

Step 1

Wash collard greens under water to remove any dirt or debris.

Step 2

Cut larger collard green leaves into smaller strips. Two cups of collards yields 1/4 to 1/3 cup of juice.

Step 3

Place collard green leaves in the mouth of a masticating vegetable juicer.

Step 4

Turn the handle of the juicer, activating the masticating "teeth" of the juicer. The collards are ground until the juice pours from the spout.

Tips and Warnings

  • Combine collard and orange juice together in a glass and drink one to two glasses per day for health. Try adding new flavor combinations, such as berries, watermelon, kale, carrot and cucumber.
