Keeping your knees bent during a tennis match is an important aspect of your success as a tennis player. However, this is something many tennis players -- especially beginners --- forget. Keeping your knees bent allows you to move more quickly, increases your balance and creates better body positioning of your hips, shoulder and trunk. Better body positioning allows for more power while hitting and better control over your tennis racquet. To become a better tennis player, you need to learn how to keep your knees bent.

Step 1

Strengthen your lower body. A strong lower body can help make the bent-knee position more comfortable for you. Perform wall squats, lunges, leg presses and leg extensions. Perform exercises in one set of 20 repetitions, two to three days per week.

Step 2

Keep your knees bent while performing other activities. Keep your knees bent while cooking dinner, ironing clothes or cleaning. This can help a knees-bent position feel more natural.

Step 3

Assume a proper tennis position. Spend a few minutes per day positioned properly. Stand with your racquet in your hand, your back straight, shoulders back, feet flat on the floor and your knees bent. Familiarize yourself with the proper positioning to make yourself more comfortable keeping your knees bent during a tennis game.

Step 4

Enlist the help of a tennis-playing friend. Have a friend hit tennis balls to you while you stay in one position. Focus on hitting the ball while keeping your knees bent. Take note of increased power in your hit when you are in proper positioning.

Step 5

Attend a tennis camp or enlist the help of a private coach. Trainer professionals can help you perfect your stance and your game.
