One of the advantages of the Internet is that you can easily keep track of your health, diet plan and fitness habits online. There are several online fitness logs that are free of charge, such as Livestrong.com's The Daily Plate and the US Department of Agriculture's My Pyramid Tracker. Both programs let you enter the food you eat at each meal along with the details of your workout to track your calories, trends and progress.
Step 1
Register for an account and user profile at the online tracking site that you prefer. Create a username and password, which will be used to log onto your personal page and access your history and information.
Step 2
Enter the necessary personal information that the specific site requires. Most often information such as, name, email, address, gender, age, height, weight, activity level, diet goals and fitness goals are necessary.
Step 3
Access your account, by entering your username and password, every time that you eat a meal or snack. Enter the exact food, and portion size, that you ate, as directed by the specific site. Your calories will be calculated by meal and day.
Step 4
Enter your workout information, if applicable, in the appropriate spaces. Most sites will calculate the calories that you burned while exercising.
Step 5
Review your online logs to see food, exercise and calorie trends, so that you are able to make any necessary changes that will help you to meet your diet and fitness goals. For example, possibly you are in the habit of eating a sugary snack every afternoon, which can be substituted with something healthy, like fresh fruit, to help you lose weight.
