A cramp is a sudden contraction of the muscle fibers and symptoms include a sharp pain accompanied by a tight lump in the affected muscle. Muscle cramps in the inner thigh are often the result of muscle strain from overuse, exercise or keeping your legs in an awkward position for long periods of time. Dehydration and mineral loss, in conjunction with exercise, can also cause the muscles in your inner thigh to cramp.
Step 1
Sit on the floor with the soles of your feet together and let your knees fall open. Press the knee of the affected leg toward the floor to gently stretch your inner thigh muscle.
Step 2
Massage your inner thigh with the heel of your hand as you stretch. The massage and stretching work together to release the cramping.
Step 3
Drink an electrolyte-based sports drink to replace the minerals and fluids lost during exercise.
Tips and Warnings
- Seek medical attention if you are unable to relieve the cramp with massage and stretching, if you are in severe pain or if your cramping has no apparent cause.
