As a teen you may be busy with school and homework, but you must not let your fitness fall to the wayside. Aerobic training is simply any activity that allows for your heart rate to increase, working the cardiovascular system. Banishing belly fat is possible with aerobic training four to six days a week. Although you can't lose fat from only one area of the body, you can burn overall fat, including from your belly.

Jumping Rope

Jumping rope is a high calorie burner and can be done in your own home. Rope jumping activates the abdominals because your abs stabilize your torso as you propel yourself into each jump. According to the Mayo Clinic, a 160-lb. person burns 730 calories jumping rope for one hour. Add variety to your workout to keep you motivated to jump. Jump side to side by keeping both feet together and hopping left and right, hopping with one foot or jumping your feet apart and together to keep your calorie burn high. Aim to jump in 10-minute spurts, followed by a short break of less than two minutes, working your way up to 30 minutes each aerobics session.

Interval Training

Interval training helps banish belly fat because it burns more calories and fat than traditional cardio. Intervals use both the aerobic and the anaerobic energy systems by combining short bursts of high intensity followed by a recovery period. Interval train by running or jogging which can be done at the gym or outside. Aim to work for 45 minutes by completing one minute sprints followed by two minutes of jogging.

Swimming

Swimming is a total body workout, allowing you to whittle your waistline -- and if you swim with friends it also becomes a social activity. The Rice University Recreation and Wellness Center explains that the water resistance in swimming is 12 times greater than air resistance, allowing you to build lean muscle as you swim. The more muscle you have, the more efficiently you can burn calories and melt fat. Swim for at least 30 minutes to help reduce unwanted belly fat.

Kickboxing

Kickboxing is an effective way to burn belly fat while using your abdominals. During front kicks, side kicks and roundhouse kicks your midsection is engaged to lift your leg up, allowing you to build strength in your abs. You also burn a high amount of calories in kickboxing because it mixes aerobic and calisthenic movements. According to the Healthy Weight Forum, a 150-lb. person burns about 650 calories in an hour of kickboxing. You can purchase a kickboxing DVD or take a class at your local gym or recreation center.
