Men are just as likely as women to suffer from high blood sugar levels, but these can come in isolated or chronic forms. High blood sugar can occur if you eat large amounts of sugar in a single sitting, but high blood sugar is also a threat to diabetics whose bodies struggle to process the sugars. Men seeking natural methods of treating high blood sugar levels have a few options available. Do not be stubborn when considering treatment options -- serious cases of high blood sugar may not be easily treated without the use of medications and medical treatments.

Step 1

Go for a walk or do some other form of exercise. According to MayoClinic.com exercise is an easy way to lower blood sugar levels because the sugars get processed for energy.

Step 2

Avoid sugary foods when eating. If your blood sugar levels are already high when you are approaching a meal, stay away from fruits, soft drinks and other foods containing sugars. Eating foods that don't feature sugar will give the body time to process the existing blood sugar, lowering it.

Step 3

Visit a hospital to receive fluid replacement. This can be as simple as feeding you fluids orally to help your body rehydrate, or in serious circumstances the fluids may be administered intravenously. Hydrating can also be done at home to dilute the blood sugars present in your blood, but make sure the fluids do not feature sugars -- this will only heighten your blood sugar levels.

Tips and Warnings

  • In serious circumstances it can be very dangerous to attempt to handle high blood sugar levels through natural methods only. Keep your insulin injection on hand in the event of an emergency, and don't resist taking medication if you feel yourself becoming ill.
  • Do not exercise if your urine has ketones in them -- this can make blood sugar levels worse. Instead, visit a doctor. Ketones can be detected through a simple urine test.
