Keeping your pores clean can help you avoid a breakout, or recover from one that has already taken place. A variety of products from cosmetic and skin-care companies promise clean pores. However, many come with a hefty price tag and no guarantee they will work. If you want fresh skin but also want to save money, check your kitchen, where you might find almost every clear-skin ingredient you need.
Tea Tree Oil Tonic
Step 1
Pour ½ cup of milk or water in a shallow bowl. Milk helps to exfoliate your skin as it moisturizes. However, if you have an allergy or aversion to milk, water can be used.
Step 2
Add 1 drop of tea tree oil to the milk or water and stir. Tea tree oil can be found in most health food stores. It is a traditional Australian remedy for skin-related issues due to its ability to work as an antiseptic and anti-inflammatory agent.
Step 3
Dip a cotton ball or washcloth into the mixture and spread it evenly on your face.
Step 4
Allow the tonic to sit on your face for five to 10 minutes -- the latter for a deeper cleanse -- and rinse off using clean water and a clean towel.
Bran and Baking Soda Mask
Step 1
Pour ¼ cup of bran and ¼ cup of baking soda into a bowl. Both are effective at exfoliating and deeply cleaning your pores without irritating your skin.
Step 2
Add water slowly to the mixture to create a paste.
Step 3
Apply the paste to your face with your fingertips or a fresh washcloth.
Step 4
Allow the paste to sit on your face for 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse off with water and a clean washcloth.
Step 5
Rinse your face with a combination of ½ cup of apple cider vinegar and ½ cup of water. The apple cider vinegar tonic will help close your pores after the bran and baking soda mask.
