Peeling skin is part of the sunburn healing process, but according to MayoClinic.com, your skin can peel for other reasons as well. Infections or disorders such as eczema and psoriasis can also cause your skin to peel, leaving you with the desire to get rid of the flaking skin quickly.

Step 1

Rub your body with a soft wash cloth after bathing with lukewarm water and mild soap. The skin that is growing in to replace the peeling skin can be tender and delicate so scrubbing too hard with a loofah or exfoliating brush can be painful and further damage the skin. The wash cloth should be made of a soft material and if you wish, you can purchase wipes that are specially made for dry or sensitive skin.

Step 2

Increase your intake of fluids. The more water you drink, the better hydrated your body is and in turn, the better hydrated your skin is. Your skin is peeling because it is damaged, so helping to make sure that the new skin underneath is as healthy and hydrated as possible will help you get rid of the peeling skin quicker. Moisturizing cream can also help hydrate your skin as well.

Step 3

Trim the loose flakes of skin with a clean pair of scissors. You can cut away the skin that is flaking off the body, but don't peel extra skin off as you do. Snip only the loose ends, but peeling extra skin can expose raw skin and leave you more susceptible to infection.

Things You'll Need

  • Wash cloth
  • Dry/sensitive skin wipes
  • Moisturizing cream
  • Scissors
