The circular disks are an essential component of the snowboard binding as they allow you to adjust your riding stance. Often referred to as the base plates, the discs are held to the deck of the snowboard with a series of mounting screws. According to the snowboard experts at REI, you'll need a Phillips screwdriver when adjusting the position of the snowboard discs. Always test your binding adjustments at home before heading out to a mountain slope.
Step 1
Lower the slick bottom of your snowboard onto a flat workspace. Lift the release mechanisms to undo the retention straps of your bindings. Raise the foam-injected foot beds to reveal the circular discs.
Step 2
Insert your screwdriver into the mounting screws of the snowboard discs. Rotate the screwdriver counterclockwise to loosen and remove the screws. Remove the discs from the bindings to begin the adjustment process.
Step 3
Place your lead binding closer to the nose of the snowboard. Slide your back binding towards the rear of the snowboard to adjust your stance width. Rotate your bindings to the desired angle to ensure a comfortable stance.
Step 4
Lower the discs back into their original position. Align each of the discs over an adjacent set of mounting holes. Re-tighten the mounting screws to secure your bindings in place.
Step 5
Lower your snowboard onto the floor to test your binding adjustments. Place your feet into the snowboard bindings and tighten the retention straps. Rock between your heels and toes to ensure you can effectively transfer energy to the edges of the snowboard.
