Bahamian Diet Plan

A comedian famous from the 1960s named Dick Gregory developed the Bahamian Diet Plan. For most of his life, Gregory suffered from obesity. After finally losing most of his body weight, he published information about the diet in his book "Dick Gregory's Natural Diet for Folks Who Eat: Cookin' With Mother Nature." Gregory is not a trained nutritionist or medical professional, nor does he back up his claims about this diet with clinical evidence. You should speak with a medical professional before trying the Bahamian Diet Plan.

Obesity and Dietary Habits

Gregory attributes his obesity to the bad dietary habits he formed in childhood and maintained throughout much of his adult life. He admits to having smoked approximately four packs of cigarettes per day and drinking large amounts of whiskey daily before going on the diet. These bad habits, combined with eating unhealthy, processed and fatty foods resulted in his weighing nearly 350 lb. for many years. After losing almost 200 lb., Gregory wrote his book to publicize what he had done drop the weight.

Fresh and Clean

The Bahamian Diet Plan has similarities to many other diet plans. Gregory emphasizes eating fresh fruits and vegetables and de-emphasizes foods high in fat and cholesterol. In place of foods high in starch, Gregory advises eating fresh foods with high natural fiber content. He also places great importance on the role of fruit and vegetable juices. According to Gregory, you should also avoid all foods made from refined flours.

From Diet to Powder

Gregory also markets a powder he claims will help support the Bahamian Diet Plan. He does not recommend using the powder alone but as part of a program that combines healthy eating with exercise. Gregory says using the powder as a part of his program can help you progress more effectively toward your weight-loss goals but does not present any supporting clinical evidence. Gregory recommends including three balanced meals per day that contain raw vegetables and fruits as part of the Bahamian Diet Plan.

About the Powder

The Slim Safe Bahamian Diet Plan powder contains soy protein and its concentrate. The powder intentionally contains high levels of protein to help increase and maintain energy levels throughout the day. Additionally, Gregory says the powder will benefit individuals looking to replace fat with lean muscle. To avoid consuming too much protein, followers of the diet are advised not to have more than three spoonfuls of the powder per day. According to Gregory, three spoonfuls contain all the vitamins and minerals your body requires each day.
