Estradiol is a specific type of estrogen hormone. Although estrogen is considered a female hormone, it is present in both males and females. The exact role of estrogen in men is not yet clear. Too much estradiol in men can have unintended side effects such as gynecomastia, which can cause breast enlargement. A hormone imbalance should be discussed with your physician; however, there are some things you can do to that may help to lower your estradiol level.

Step 1

Consume organic foods and beverages to help lower your estradiol levels. According to Dr. Kristie Leong from HealthMad.com, chemicals and pesticides found in food can mimic estrogen when consumed.

Step 2

Increase the fiber in your diet to naturally lower estradiol levels. Research has suggested that a diet high in fiber reduces estrogen in the body. Add whole grains and high fiber vegetables to your diet.

Step 3

Avoid alcohol to lower estradiol levels in your blood. Alcohol acts as a depressant and can stall your body from removing excess estradiol.

Step 4

Limit dairy products in your diet. Cow's milk in the United States contains a high amount of estrogen, according to Dr. Ganmaa Davaasambuu, a scientist from Harvard School of Public Health. Dr. Davaasambuu states that dairy accounts for 60 to 80 percent of the estrogen that Americans consume. Consider substituting a nondairy milk to reduce estradiol levels.

Step 5

Increase exercise. According to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, 3 hours of moderate exercise per week significantly reduced estrogen. Although this study was conducted on women, exercise may benefit men with high estradiol levels as well.
