Proper skin care is a major element of any beauty regimen, and moisturizing becomes progressively more important as you age. As time passes, the body loses the ability to produce enzymes that promote cell growth, leading to wrinkles, redness and dryness. People who live in dry climates or have naturally dry skin also might need to pay special attention to the moisturizers they choose for their faces. Moisturizers that incorporate vitamin B-3 might prevent the signs of aging and environmental irritation.

Step 1

Select a moisturizer that includes vitamin B-3 as an active ingredient. If you live in a dry climate or you have dry skin, select a product that also specifies that it is long-lasting.

Step 2

Wash your face in the morning and evening. Pat your face dry, and then apply moisturizer immediately. Use your fingertips to gently smooth the product onto your skin.

Step 3

Reapply the moisturizer in the middle of the day if you are spending time outside in a dry or windy climate.

Step 4

Drink plenty of water to keep your skin moisturized below the outer layers.

Tips and Warnings

  • Protect your skin with sunscreen when spending time outside.
  • Don't use facial cleansers or toners that include alcohol. Alcohol strips protective oils from the skin and leaves it vulnerable to environmental irritants.
