Snowboards are turned by varying pressure placed either on the heel side or the toe side of the board. Some bindings include a small ramp on the toe side that curves upward slightly to follow the natural line of most snowboarding boots. By using a toe ramp, your boot comes in contact with the binding faster and more forcefully, allowing for more powerful and quick toe side turns. If the toe ramp is not adjusted properly, it may affect your turning ability or encourage foot fatigue.

Step 1

Locate the release screw just behind the toe ramp on your binding's baseplate. Depending on your binding manufacturer, the screw may be a Phillips or Allen bolt screw.

Step 2

Loosen the release screw with either an Allen wrench or Phillips screwdriver, but do not fully remove the screw.

Step 3

Slide the toe ramp in or out, depending on your boot size and shape. When your boot is strapped in, the toe ramp should mirror the curve of the boot's toe. The toe ramp and boot should be very close, but they should not touch in a neutral position or when the board is lying flat.

Step 4

Lock the toe ramp into place by tightening the release screw. Check your work by putting your boots on and strapping into the bindings. You shouldn't feel pressure on your foot from the toe ramp when standing flat, but you should feel it immediately if you put pressure on your toe side.

Tips and Warnings

  • Keep the tools you need to adjust the toe ramp with you at all times so you can make minor adjustments on the slopes, without having to come back inside.
  • Make sure all screws and bolts are fastened securely before riding. A loose connection may cause you to lose control and have an accident.

Things You'll Need
