Hair on the body starts to grow at adolescence. Over the course of time, it can become thick and dark, or it can be fine and hardly noticeable. The chest is a common site on the body for hair to grow. If you have a lot of hair on your chest, you may feel self conscious and embarrassed. The best way to remove your chest hair depends on your personal preference.
Step 1
Remove it the old-fashioned way. Cut off as much chest hair as possible with a pair of electric clippers. Wash your chest with warm water and leave it wet. Apply shaving cream to your chest. Run a razor blade along your skin in smooth strokes. Do not apply too much force when you do this. Keep going until you've removed all the hair, then take a shower to wash yourself up.
Step 2
Tweeze the finer hair around your nipples. Hold the skin taut with your fingers and thumb of one hand, and pluck the hairs out with your other hand. Place the tweezers close to the skin and pull straight out in a smooth motion. Do not use excessive force, as this can cause the hairs to break off.
Step 3
Apply a depilatory cream to your chest. Wash your chest with warm water and leave it wet. Pour cream on an area where you have hair and allow it time to work. Wipe it off with a moist washcloth and go against the grain. Keep applying the depilatory cream to all the areas where you want removal.
Step 4
Wax it off. Apply wax to your chest with the applicator stick that comes with the kit. Place the cloth strip over the wax and smooth it down. Place one hand on your skin next to the top of the strip. Grab the edge of the strip with your other hand and pull down in a fast motion. This will remove the wax and the hair at the same time. Repeat in all the areas where you want hair removal.
Step 5
Laser it off. Get a laser treatment from a professional facility. In this procedure, a laser beam gets zapped onto your skin, and it targets the melanin that gives your hair its color. The follicles are killed, and the hair ends up falling out.
Tips and Warnings
- When you clip the hair off your chest, stand on a newspaper or towel to make cleanup easier. Use new razor blades when you are shaving. To get a closer shave, use flex blades that follow the contour of your skin. Before you use a depilatory cream, run a test on your forearm to make sure you do not have an adverse reaction. If you choose to get laser hair removal, be aware that it can take several weekly treatments before you start seeing results.
- Do not hit your nipples when you are shaving.
