If you have difficulty losing stomach fat as an active male, you may be consuming too many calories in your diet. Although you may burn a significant number of calories during exercise, you may counteract your calorie loss with poor food choices. Therefore, focus on improving your diet to lose stomach fat.

Step 1

Avoid high-calorie foods and beverages to lose stomach fat. While you may burn 300 calories in a 30-minute workout, you can eat a doughnut or two and replace those calories in a few seconds. In addition, you may choose to drink a soda or juice, which also can replace those lost calories quickly. Avoid high-calorie foods and beverages to lose your stomach fat.

Eat healthier foods to help you lose stomach fat and optimize your athletic activity. Choosing to eat fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, lean meats and low-fat dairy will decrease belly fat and optimize your workouts. Increase your workout time and intensity. Although you regularly participate in exercise, you may not be challenging yourself enough to burn stomach fat. Every time you perform physical activity, ensure you sweat and breathe harder. Increasing your workout's duration and intensity will help you lose stomach fat.

Tips and Warnings

  • Measure your waist circumference at least weekly to ensure you are losing stomach fat. Include abdominal crunches with your workout. Although crunches will not help you burn fat in your stomach, they will make your stomach muscles more toned.
  • Consult a doctor before starting an exercise or diet program.
