Pullups and chinups are challenging, body weight strength exercises that target your back and biceps muscles, and require equipment such as the BodyFit Deluxe Padded Chinup Bar. This chinup bar mounts at the top of a doorway so you can do chinups and pullups at home. The telescoping bar adjusts to fit most residential doorways and the kit includes two mounting brackets and screws. The BodyFit chinup bar can hold users weighing up to 250 pounds.
Mount the Chinup Bar
Step 1
Position one bracket on the inside of the doorway near the top of the frame. Hold the bracket against the frame and use a pencil to mark the screw holes.
Step 2
Measure from the top of the frame to the top screw hole. Position the other bracket on the other side of the doorway. Measure from the top of the frame and make a mark where the top screw hole will be. Hold the bracket against the frame and use a pencil to mark the screw holes.
Step 3
Drill holes in the six marked spots.
Step 4
Align the bracket with the screw holes and insert a screw into each hole. Tighten the screws. Repeat on the other side.
Step 5
Slide one end of the chinup bar into a bracket. Hold the thick end of the bar and turn the thinner end to extend the bar. Continue turning until the bar extends into the second bracket and against the doorframe.
Pullup/Chinup Execution
Step 1
Grab the bar with an overhand, shoulder-width grip to do a pullup or an underhand, shoulder-width grip to do a chinup.
Step 2
Lift your feet off the floor and cross your ankles to stabilize your body.
Step 3
Exhale and pull yourself up toward the bar. Continue until your chin reaches the bar.
Step 4
Pause for a count of one and then slowly lower yourself until your arms are fully extended. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions and sets.
