As your skin ages, it can lose much of its elasticity and become noticeably thinner. Over time your skin produces less oil, reducing the natural moisture. Losing this natural moisture allows wrinkles and lines to appear around your eyes, mouth, forehead and throat. Moisturizers replace the lost moisture in your skin and plump the skin cell, reducing lines and wrinkles on your face. Choose a moisturizer designed to work with your skin type to avoid over-drying or over-moisturizing.
Step 1
Cleanse your face with a cleanser that contains a moisturizer recommended for your skin type, both in the morning and at night before bed. Some cleansers can have a drying effect on your skin, increasing the appearance of your wrinkles.
Step 2
Apply moisturizer to your face and throat within two or three minutes of cleansing, while your skin is still damp. Do this each time you cleanse your skin. This locks the moisture from the water into your skin.
Step 3
Pat under-eye moisturizing creams to the area around and beneath the eyes after applying moisturizer to your face. Under-eye moisturizers are thicker, and they can tackle the crow's feet and laugh lines that appear around your eyes.
