5 Things You Need to Know About Women's Sexual Response
1. Not All Women Have the Same Responses
All women are different, even when it comes down to their sexual responses, so don't take for granted what works for one woman will be earth shattering for another. Women vary quite significantly in their sex drive. Some women are very passionate whereas others hardly think of it at all. A variety of chemical, emotional and physiological responses could be the reason sexual arousal and response varies so widely in women.
2. Physical Signs of Arousal
As a woman begins to get aroused, her pulse rate will quicken and the pupils of her eyes will dilate. It is believed that this is to enable her to look more attractive. As soon as she becomes interested in sex, her vagina will start to moisten. This is the female equivalent of the male erection. Her clitoris and labia will enlarge and her vagina becomes open to allow the penis to enter. As she gets more aroused, her breasts will swell slightly and her nipples will become more prominent. She will sometimes develop flushed skin on her chest and breasts.
3. The Female Orgasm
As she climaxes, what generally happens is she will experience a series of increasingly stronger waves of pleasure. During the final one, she will often cry out with pleasure, her facial and body muscles will contract very suddenly and pleasurably; they will gradually relax after a few moments. If a woman is happy and relaxed and is being pleasurably stimulated, she can go on to achieve multiple orgasms.
4. Women's Sexual Arousal
In contract to men, both heterosexual and lesbian women become aroused by male and female erotica. Studies show that women's sexual arousal is less tightly linked to their sexual orientation than men's arousal is. Women have three types of sexual arousal; mildly pleasurable spontaneous sensations, distracting but not bothersome persistent feelings of sexual arousal and continuous and distracting feelings of sexual arousal.
5. Female Sexual Dysfunction
Female sexual dysfunction may have several causes and can be related to medical, emotional, psychological and relational issues. Sexual dysfunction affects up to 43 percent of women in the US. Surveys of women have highlighted the fact than they wish men to focus on their physiological needs. Communication between partners is crucial for a woman to feel sexually comfortable with her partner. If a woman is suffering from sexual dysfunction, she is unable to go through the normal sexual response cycle.
