An attackman in lacrosse is a position responsible for much of the team's offensive output. Attackmen spend most of their time in the offensive zone -- and must score goals to help their team win. A proficient attackman is fast-footed and skilled with his stick. Shooting power and accuracy are of vital importance, as your opponent's defense will try to limit your space and time when you are in possession of the ball.
Step 1
Keep moving around the offensive zone, whether you're in possession of the ball or not. Steady movement means a defenseman must stay on you; this may disrupt your opponent's defensive strategy.
Step 2
Move into the clear when you don't have the ball to make yourself available for a pass.
Step 3
Pass the ball with force to your teammates to minimize the chances of interception.
Step 4
Move into the crease area to disrupt the goalie when another attackman is going to take a shot on goal. Watch for a rebound and scoop it up as quickly as possible if one is available.
Step 5
Look around the entire offensive zone when you have the ball, so you're aware of the positioning of your teammates and can make passes when the time is right.
Step 6
Practice your shooting and passing accuracy as often as possible, so when you get a chance in the game you're not going to miss.
