Facial wrinkles have their origin in heredity, age, exposure to sun and weather, gender, smoking and making the same expression repeatedly, such as squinting. A variety of anti-wrinkle creams and ointments are available, but cod liver oil is an effective and cost-efficient remedy for reducing facial lines. Cod liver oil is made from the cooked livers of codfish. It is pale yellow and of a thin consistency. It contains vitamin D, omega-3 fatty acids and about 1,250 IU of vitamin A per capsule. Vitamin A covers a variety of compounds, including retinol, a key ingredient in many anti-wrinkle creams.

Step 1

Remove any makeup from your face. Clean your skin with mild soap and water and pat dry.

Step 2

Take a cod liver oil capsule from the container. Using a needle, such as a sewing needle, puncture the capsule once or twice.

Step 3

Gently squeeze cod liver oil on your finger tip and apply the oil to each wrinkle. One capsule should be sufficient for all your facial wrinkles.

Tips and Warnings

  • Buy cod liver oil capsules in dark bottles to ensure freshness. Cod liver oil will become rancid if not used within two months of opening the jar. If you would prefer not to spread cod liver oil on your face, you can take it orally.
  • Check with your physician about using cod liver oil topically, especially if you are applying prescribed creams or ointments to your face. Some prescription creams already contain retinol or other forms of vitamin A and using more than prescribed could lead to serious toxic side effects. If you are pregnant, avoid using cod liver oil until you have talked to your doctor.
