Scars usually flatten on their own, with time. However, it can take months or even years for that to happen, especially in the case of large scars. If you don't want to wait that long, there are a number of things you can do to help speed up healing. If your scar is fresh and still not completely healed, talk to your doctor before trying any at-home treatment.
Step 1
Use pure cocoa butter or rosehip seed to massage the scar. Massage softly on top and all around the scar area. You can also use onion extract, a common ingredient in scar creams.
Step 2
Talk to an acupuncturist about scar treatment. Placed properly, needles can increase blood flow to the area and speed up healing. Acupuncturists can also use heat. Tiger thermie warmers are used in acupressure to treat scar tissue and improve blow flood.
Step 3
Use silicone sheeting pads to apply pressure on the scar tissue. The pressure from the soft pad helps flatten the scar without causing pain or irritation. You can simply apply these pads as you would a bandage. Make sure they are applied tightly, without air space between your skin and the pad.
Step 4
Ask your doctor about laser treatments with pulsed-dye laser . Although results can be hard to predict, laser usually provides at least some relief from puffiness and redness. Laser treatment requires several visits to make a difference.
