Stretch marks are the result of skin changes, often in the abdominal area, that occur too rapidly. This can happen from sudden weight gain, weight loss or pregnancy. When this change occurs it produces a tear in your dermal layer, or a rupture in the collagen and elastin fibers. This produces the stretch marks seen on the stomach. While it may seem impossible to fix, especially if you've had these marks for years, they are quite treatable.
Step 1
Massage the areas with stretch marks four or five times daily with a lotion that contains cocoa butter as a main ingredient. Lotions such as Palmer's Cocoa Butter lotion can penetrate deep into your skin, enhancing the production of collagen, hydrating and improving the elasticity of your skin. Constant use of this type of lotion will diminish stretch marks in about two or three months.
Step 2
Rub vitamin E oil on the stretch marks to gradually fade them away. This oil can penetrate deep into your skin and help reduce the appearance of stretch marks. Apply the oil when your stomach area is moisturized, such as after taking a shower. Results can be seen in about five or six months when done every day.
Step 3
Use a glycolic peel kit to remove stretch marks from your stomach. These kits contain glycolic acid which can penetrate your skin and enhance elastin and collagen production. This tightens and thickens your skin. If used as directed, stretch marks will fade and disappear in a few months. There are many glycolic skin kits available at your local drug store. Ask the pharmacist to help in choosing one that's suitable for you.
Step 4
Look into microdermabrasion to get rid of stomach stretch marks. This medical procedure is performed in a clinic/hospital by a licensed dermatologist. It works by applying crystals to your skin to polish the surface. A vacuum is then used to remove the skin cells and crystals, stimulating the growth of new skin. You may have to undergo a few sessions to permanently eliminate stretch marks.
