Stretch marks, or striae are fine scars that range in color from white to purple and commonly appear during periods of hormonal flux, pregnancy, weight gain, weight loss and adolescent growth. Limes are citrus fruits which have natural bleaching properties. Limes are safe to use, compared to the harsh bleaching chemicals found in most creams used for stretch marks. Using lime regularly can help gradually eliminate stretch marks in two to three months.
Step 1
Squeeze three or four fresh limes into a clean bowl and throw away any seeds. Add 1 tbsp. of aloe vera gel and stir well. The aloe vera gel will help moisturize your skin and prevent irritation during the bleaching process.
Step 2
Dip a clean cotton ball into the solution and apply it directly to the stretch marks.
Step 3
Massage the stretch marks with the soaked cotton ball in a circular motion for five minutes. Leave the solution on your skin and allow it to dry. Do this twice daily, preferably in the morning and before going to bed. Store any unused lime solution in the fridge.
Step 4
Apply sunscreen lotion to the stretch marks 15 minutes before going outdoors. Lime naturally bleaches the skin. Prolonged exposure to sunlight can darken the stretch marks. Use a sunscreen that has an sun protection factor (SPF) of 30 and above.
