A flat iron is a good tool to use when you want perfectly straight hair. Unfortunately, it can also wreak havoc on the condition of your hair. Some flat irons go as high as 450 degrees F, leaving your hair fried and frizzy. Beautycreator.com recommends that you only use a flat iron three times a week. The other days, you can still use a warm blow dryer to help shape your hair into a straight style, with minimal damage to the hair shaft.
Step 1
Comb a straightening serum through your wet hair with a wide-tooth comb. Clip your just-washed and conditioned wet hair into five different sections. Separate the top layer of your hair from the bottom layers, as you'll want to blow dry them separately for the best results.
Step 2
Place the round brush under the undermost layer of hair, as close to the roots of the hair as possible. Wind the hair around the round brush by dragging the brush down to the tips of the hair and rolling it back up toward the head. Do not roll too tight, or you may create tangles.
Step 3
Attach the concentration attachment onto the blow-dryer. This attachment funnels the air into a more-concentrated space, which will help you get better results. Turn the dryer on, and point it downward from a higher position than the round brush.
Step 4
Drag the hair down from the round brush as you focus the hair dryer onto the brush. Pull it slowly so that you are able to dry it completely. As you get to the end of the hair, let the heat linger there for a minute before you remove the hairbrush from your hair altogether. Do another pass, if the hair is not yet totally dry.
Step 5
Release another clip, and repeat the process for each section of hair. Complete the bottom layers before moving to the top. When all of your hair is dried straight, switch your blow-dryer to the cool air setting, and remove the concentration adapter. Blast your entire head of hair with the cool air, setting your style for the rest of the day and sealing the hair shafts into a straight style.
Step 6
Spray the hair with a flexible hold setting spray.
