A contact lens that is stuck in the eye can be uncomfortable and disquieting. Fortunately, it's not a reason to panic. In fact, panicking and frantically sticking your fingers into your eye will cause more problems than calmly seeking and removing the lens.
Step 1
Douse your eye with saline solution. This will help relieve the discomfort in your eye. Close your infused eye for a couple of minutes. This might be all it takes to make the lens reappear.
Step 2
Wash your hands if you need to do more. Use your index finger to pull down your lower lid. Blink. Look up, and then down. Do this several times until the lens comes out. Put saline into your eye each time you repeat.
Step 3
Rewet your eye and, if you can see the lens, attempt to take the contact out with the tip of a finger. Look up and try to slide the lens down. Have someone else look for the lens, if you are having problems finding it.
Step 4
Squirt saline into your eye again. Look up. Put your index fingertip to one side of the lens. Use your thumb on the lens' other side. Gently try to squeeze the lens in and then out.
Step 5
Look around the counter top and sink where you've been working on your eye. Sometimes the lens comes out, but feels like it is still in the eye, because the eye is irritated.
Step 6
Allow your lens to dry out, if it's a hard contact lens, and the other techniques don't work. This may help the lens pop out of your eye.
