Calories
Weight loss occurs when the number of calories you take in are less than what you burn. The Slim for Life Diet allows approximately 1500 calories per day to help you lose weight gradually and safely. However, caloric needs will vary and may be slightly higher or lower depending on your height, weight, age, sex, physical activity levels and current medical conditions. According to EveryDiet.com, Slim for Life suggests that you may lose up to 3 to 5 lbs. per week if you adhere to the dietary plan and avoid cheating.
Thermogenics
The Slimgenics website, Slimgenics.com, cites that the Slim for Diet is based on Thermogenesis, or the science of generating and burning heat for energy. The recommended diet plan purportedly will help your body's cells produce more heat and increase the metabolic rate, preventing the storage of fat from conservation mode. Famine conservation mode occurs when the body does not receive enough calories and as a result starts to store fat to ensure it has adequate energy to perform daily essential body processes. However, healthy food choices combined with consistent eating switches your body into fat-burning mode instead of fat-storing mode.
Food Plan
The Slim for Life diet plan is convenient and accessible for most participants as the foods are commonly available in most grocery stores. This prevents common diet drawbacks such as lack of money for special food delivery services or having to look for fancy foods and ingredients from hard to find health food stores. The dietary food plan is low in simple, processed carbohydrates, low in sodium and fats, but high in essential nutrients, vitamins and minerals. Recommended foods on the plan include fruits, vegetables, lean meats, eggs, low-fat dairy and whole-grains, such as whole-wheat bread and brown rice.
Supplements
The Slim for Life Diet plan has a variety of snacks called Thermo snacks specifically designed to help you curb hunger cravings without adding excess calories to your daily diet. Such snacks include Slim for Life granola bars, pretzels, puddings and smoothies. Furthermore, a variety of supplements including vitamins, minerals and carb-blockers are recommended to help increase weight loss efforts. These supplements are meant to increase the metabolic rate to increase calorie burn that leads to weight and fat loss. They also help satiate the appetite, preventing hunger cravings that lead to over-eating foods high in sugars and fats. Consult a physician before adding any supplements to your diet as they may interfere with other medications or health conditions.
