Most supplements for weight loss address the calorie intake side of the weight loss equation. They suppress appetite or decrease your body's absorption of fats or carbohydrates. However, you can take supplements for the other side. Force Factor is a workout accelerator that can distributors claim can help you boost the calorie burn from your exercise program.

Force Factor Basics

Force Factor, according to marketing materials from the manufacturer, can increase the your energy and endurance during your workouts by boosting the level of nitric oxide in your body. It is primarily intended as an athletic aid to help improve the efficiency of a workout session. As a weight-loss aid, the improved exercise efficiency can mean burning more calories during your workouts and thus increasing your likelihood of a negative caloric balance.

Negative Caloric Balance

To lose weight, you have to create a caloric deficit, meaning you consume fewer calories than you burn through metabolism and daily activities. Whenever you eat, your body takes in calories, which it burns throughout various activities over the course of the day. If you burn more calories than you have, your body makes up the difference by accessing stored energy in your fat cells. Burning that energy means burning up fat and losing weight.

Active Ingredients

Diet review website DietSpotlight.com lists nitric oxide, arginine and L-citruline as the active ingredients in Force Factor. Nitric oxide facilitates the passage of chemical messages between different body systems. Better communication means better coordination, and potentially a more successful workout. Argenine's main purpose is to increase your metabolism, thus making more energy available during your workout. L-citruline helps reduce recovery times after your workout. Of these three, nitric oxide and argenine are the most likely to help you burn more calories during your workouts.

Caution

As a dietary supplement, Force Factor is not subject to the same regulation as a weight loss drug. This means the distributors and manufacturers do not have to clinically prove their claims as to the supplement's effectiveness or lack of dangerous side effects. Although the ingredients of Force Factor may contribute to a better workout and greater calorie burn, that's no guarantee that it will actually work.

Support Activities

Force Factor won't work at all if you're not engaging in regular workouts. It will work poorly if you only work out, with no attention to your diet and other facets of your lifestyle. As with other diet supplements, Force Factor may help with your weight loss efforts but you should not consider it a weight loss program by itself.
