Endodan is a medication used to manage moderate to severe pain, says Drugs.com. It's made up of a blood-thinning medication (aspirin) and a narcotic pain reliever known as oxycodone. Endodan is a tablet that's typically taken every four to six hours as needed for pain. Take Endodan as your doctor prescribes to ward off harmful side effects.
Mild Side Effects
According to Drugs.com, Endodan can cause heartburn. This is an uncomfortable feeling that is typically the result of stomach acid backing up in your digestive tract. You may also experience a mild or severe headache that can be dull or sharp. Avoid driving or operating machinery if you experience drowsiness with Endodan. In some instances, Endodan can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or constipation. It can also evoke ringing sounds in your ears called tinnitus. All of these symptoms are harmless if they are temporary. Your doctor may have to lower your dosage or find another medication to treat your pain if these side effects cease to abate.
Harmful Effects
Endodan is not without harmful effects. It may cause hearing loss and permanently affect your way of life. Endodan can cause you to be confused about where you are, who are and what you were just doing. In some instances, Endodan can lead to severe dizziness, diarrhea and restlessness. You might hear voices or see and feel things that aren't present. Difficulty breathing, severe stomach pain, sweating and weakness are some other harmful side effects of Endodan that can pose life threatening effects. Go to the emergency room to seek care.
Bleeding
According to Drugs.com, the aspirin component of Endodan can lead to severe bleeding. Aspirin is a medication that prevents your blood from clotting. During an injury, your platelets (cells that clot blood) may not respond and you may bleed profusely. In some cases, aspirin may irritate your stomach and intestines and cause such serious side effects as bloody or black stools, hemoptysis (coughing up blood) and vomiting coffee ground-like material. Call 911 or go to the emergency room when you have these symptoms. Losing blood can lead to hypotension (low blood pressure), unconsciousness and even death.
Infrequent Side Effects
The Mayo Clinic says you will rarely experience trouble breathing, depression, chest tightness and jaundice (yellow skin or eyes) when taking Endodan. Blurred vision, dry mouth and poor appetite are other infrequent side effects.
