Often crafted into pendants or necklaces, amber is a soft material that is slightly warm to the touch. Amber is good for grounding the emotions and promoting healing through drawing out negative energy, according to some New Age believers and crystal healers.
Origin of Amber
Technically a fossil and not a stone, amber is made from fossilized tree sap. Most often a translucent golden orange color, amber often contains insects, flowers and seeds that fell into the tree sap as it was hardening.
Healing Properties
According to crystal healers, amber heals the body through detoxification, and may be beneficial to those who are trying to overcome a drug or alcohol addiction. Good for overall health, amber is thought to help relieve stress and specifically help those who are suffering from fibromyalgia. In traditional Chinese medicine, amber is ground into a powder and taken with a glass of water. In this practice, amber may be given to help epileptic children, to promote sleep, heal urinary disorders, alleviate water retention and promote blood circulation.
Amber and the Chakras
Chakras are the invisible energy centers of the body. Traditional Chinese medicine teaches that when energy is not flowing properly through these channels that a condition of discomfort or disease can set in. When amber is placed upon the area surrounding the chakras, it is believed that it has the ability to draw negative energy from the area to promote healing.
For the Emotions
Crystal and New Age healers believe that wearing amber close to the body as on a necklace may help those who are suffering from depression or suicidal thoughts.
Precaution
Cleansing amber after using it for healing purposes is highly recommended. This will protect its ability to heal and will prevent it from distributing the negative energy that it absorbed, according to those who practice crystal healing.
