The angle of the snowboarding stance will directly affect your turning efficiency and edge control. When choosing an appropriate stance angle, your intended riding terrain and level of skill should be taken into account. To accommodate the needs of beginner, intermediate and expert riders, the snowboard binding features an adjustable design. To adjust the stance angle of the snowboard binding, you'll first need to loosen the mounting screws located beneath the footbed. According to REI, the only tool you'll need is a No. 3 Phillips screwdriver.

Step 1

Place the smooth underside of your snowboard on a level worktable. Loosen the bindings' safety straps by lifting the release mechanisms. Raise the bindings' foam footbeds to expose the circular base plates and mounting screws.

Step 2

Insert the head of your screwdriver into one of the mounting screws. Rotate the screwdriver counterclockwise to loosen and remove the corresponding screw. Repeat the process with each of the remaining binding screws.

Step 3

Remove the aluminum base plates to begin the adjustment process. Rotate your lead binding to the desired angle to ensure a comfortable stance. Repeat the process with your back binding to adjust your stance angle.

Step 4

Align the circular base plates back into their original position. Insert the mounting screws through the base plates and into the threaded holes of the snowboard deck. Tighten the screws with your screwdriver to secure the bindings in place.

Step 5

Lower the foam footbeds to conceal the base plates and mountings screws. Place your snowboard onto the floor to perform a basic fitting test. Tighten the binding straps around your boots to ensure the stance angle corresponds with your specifications.
