Information about Lipro diet pills is difficult to track down. The company has no official website, only a Facebook page with minimal information. No Supplement Facts label is available, so there is no way to know how much of each ingredient a serving contains, or even if the pill contains ingredients that aren't listed. On the Facebook page, most of the ingredients are listed by their less familiar names, making them sound like new, exotic ingredients rather than the same old ineffective and potentially dangerous over-the-counter diet pill ingredients that have been around for years.
Fiber
Lipro contains two types of fiber -- guar gum and sweet potato. While a diet high in fiber can help control your appetite, diet pills that contain a limited dose of fiber probably won't. In fact, a 2004 meta-analysis in the "American Journal of Clinical Nutrition" showed that guar gum in particular had no effect on weight loss.
Glucomannan
Glucomannan is related to guar gum -- basically, it's a fiber molecule with sugars attached. The "American Journal of Clinical Nutrition" analysis showed that a single study yielded positive weight loss results using glucomannan, but the findings have not been replicated. This means it is unclear whether glucomannan affects weight loss or not.
Guarana and Kola
Guarana and kola are stimulants, both containing caffeine. Caffeine may temporarily reduce your appetite slightly and provide energy to exercise, but you can eat less and exercise more on your own. If you are caffeine sensitive, you should stay away from Lipro diet pills. Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center notes that guarana has been found effective for weight loss only when used with ephedra, and there is no evidence to suggest kola would be beneficial either.
Garcinia Cambogia
Garcinia cambogia, also known as hydroxycitric acid, is a common diet pill ingredient. It may slightly increase weight loss only when combined with increased activity and a reduced-calorie diet, but a 1998 study in the "Journal of the American Medical Association" showed that the results did not differ from those for a placebo group even under these conditions.
Forskolin
According to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, a single small study showed that forskolin may help obese men, but the findings must be duplicated before a definitive decision can be made about its effectiveness. Further study is also necessary to determine whether forskolin is effective only in men, whether the state of obesity affects the results, what the effective dose is and what adverse effects it may have.
