How to Cook a Frozen Pizza on a Campfire Fire

The campfire is one of the most nostalgic parts of camping. Although s'mores are yummy, marshmallows, chocolate and graham crackers are far from a nutritional dinner. A vegetable pizza includes all the major food groups, making for a quick and nutritious dinner. If you can manage to keep your pizza frozen in a cooler while camping, you have a simple dinner on hand. Baking a pizza over a campfire isn't much different from baking it in an oven.

Step 1

Place the cooking rack on top of the fire ring. If you are not using a metal fire ring, make a ring with large rocks prior to making the campfire.

Step 2

Wait for the large flames of the fire to die down and no longer reach the cooking rack. Tall, hot flames can burn pizza, leaving it charred.

Step 3

Place the frozen pizza on the cooking rack. Allow it to cook until its crust is golden brown and the cheese has melted. The amount of time required varies based on the size of the pizza and heat of the embers, but it typically takes 25 to 35 minutes.

Things You'll Need
