Nutritional Value of Venison Rib Meat

Venison is deer meat, and the rib meat is cut from the same part of that animal as the ribs on a steer or a pig. You can cook the rib meat in the same way as you would the ribs of other animals, but the nutrition profile is as different from a steer, for example, as is the nutrition of a pig or bison.

Serving Size & Calories

A 3 1/2-ounce serving of venison rib contains about 110 calories, according to the USDA. In that serving, about 25 calories come from fat. The remaining calories come from protein, about 75 calories per serving.

Fat Content

A serving of venison rib meat contains about 3 grams of total fat -- significantly lower than the total fat in a cut of beef or pork ribs. Of that fat, about half a gram is made up of harmful saturated fats. The remainder are healthy unsaturated fats, the kind that stimulate your body to produce heart-healthy HDL cholesterol.

Protein Information

Three and a half ounces of venison rib meat contains about 22 grams of protein, just over 43 percent of your recommended daily value. Because it comes from an animal source, this protein is complete -- it contains all of the amino acids your body needs for optimum health, but can't manufacture for itself.
