How to Obtain a Free Credit Report Without a Credit Card

Everyone is entitled to a copy of his credit report once a year. It's absolutely free, and you don't need a credit card to access it. However, with all of the scam websites and pay-for services, it's easy to get lost in the sea of free credit report offers. Luckily, there's an easy way to access your credit report as provided by TransUnion, Equifax and Experian without putting any money on the line.

Step 1

Fill out the online form at AnnualCreditReport.com. You'll be asked for much of your personal information, like your name, address, Social Security Number and birth date. Once you input this information you'll be given free access to your credit report.

Step 2

Write Equifax a letter to obtain a hard copy of your credit report. The address to write is Equifax Credit Information Services, Inc., P.O. Box 740241, Atlanta, GA 30374. This is helpful if you need to provide proof of good credit to an employer or need to fight identity theft.

Step 3

Write letters to the two other credit reporting bureaus. Write to Experian at 701 Experian Parkway, Allen, TX 75013 and to TransUnion at 2 Baldwin Place, P.O. Box 2000, Chester, PA 19022.

Step 4

Contact the credit bureaus over the phone to request a free copy of your credit report without needing to use a credit card. You can reach TransUnion at 1-800-916-8800, Equifax at 1-800-685-1111 and Experian at 1-888-397-3742.
