The Hollywood Detox Diet, also called the Hollywood Miracle Diet, is a 48-hour juice fast that limits you to 16 oz. of a juice blend and purified water each day. The Hollywood Detox Diet is the brainchild of James Kabler, so-called diet counselor to the stars and creator of the cookie diet, according to Diet.com. His company, Sunset Health, retails a line of Hollywood Miracle Diet products. Sunset Health claims the diet activates the body's fat-burning furnace and detoxifies, restoring biochemical and mineral balance. This diet is a very low-calorie fast. Don't undertake it without talking with your doctor.

Basics

The Hollywood Miracle Diet is based on a juice drink that goes by the same name. Sunset Health supplies the drink in 32-oz. bottles. It can also be ordered online and found at some discount department stores.
To do this fast, you will need one bottle of Hollywood Miracle Diet. You will eat nothing, although you should drink at least eight glasses of purified water. The juice is meant to be added to an equal amount of water -- 4 oz. of juice and 4 oz. of purified water should be mixed and slowly sipped over four hours. Do this four times on each of the two-day fast. Do not drink anything else except water.

Ingredients

The juice drink has the following ingredients: purified water, fructose, pineapple juice concentrate, orange juice concentrate, artificial flavors, apple juice concentrate, prune juice concentrate, white grape juice concentrate, lemon juice concentrate, potassium sorbate, sodium benzoate, xantham gum, potassium citrate, bilberry extract, green tea extract, gingko biloba extract, grapeseed extract and ascorbic acid.
Each 4-oz. serving provides 100 calories, so you're allowed 400 calories each day. There are 25 g of carbohydrates per serving, including 22 g of sugar. After water, there is more sugar in this product than anything else.

Nutrition and Very-Low-Calorie Diets

Your total caloric intake on the Hollywood Miracle Diet is 400 calories -- the majority of which come from sugar. Very low-calorie diets such as this are usually only prescribed by a doctor for obese patients and are typically medically supervised. Medically supervised very low-calorie diets tend to be high in protein and low in sugar. Each 4-oz. serving of the detox drink does contain 75 percent of your recommended daily intake of vitamins A, B-2, B-3, B-5, B-6, B-9, B-12, C, D and E. But it has no fat, fiber or protein.

Conclusion

Because of the short duration of the diet, the lack of nutrients probably won't have a negative effect on your overall health. Expect any weight that you lose to be quickly regained when you resume your normal eating habits. A very low-calorie diet is not appropriate for everyone, and you should consult your doctor before undertaking the Hollywood Miracle Diet.
