Apple cider is a form of apple juice that has not been filtered or pasteurized. Because it is apple juice in its purest form, traditional home remedies recommend it as a cure for colds, flus, indigestion, liver dysfunctions and as a general immune booster. Although medical science has not proven or disproven the effectiveness of any particular remedy, a review of several medical studies published in BioMed Central's "Nutrition Journal" suggest that apples and apple products may have significant health benefits.

Step 1

Swallow a mixture of 1 tbsp. apple cider and 1 tsp. honey to help alleviate a sore throat and cold symptoms.

Step 2

Take 1 tsp. equal parts apple cider and honey every hour to reduce flu symptoms.

Step 3

Dissolve 1 tsp. apple cider and 1 tsp. honey in an 8-oz. glass of water. Drink this twice a day to cure an upset stomach due to nut allergies.

Step 4

Drink 16 oz. of apple cider diluted to 90 percent strength with warm water every two hours for 12 hours to cleanse the liver and gallbladder. For best results, fast during this period.

Step 5

Mix 1 tbsp. apple cider with 1 tbsp. honey and 1 tsp. cranberry juice to fight a bladder infection. Take once in the morning and once in the evening.

Step 6

Drink a glass of apple cider sweetened with honey daily to fight against chronic illnesses caused by a poor immune system.

Tips and Warnings

  • Purchase your cider from a reputable source. Some homemade ciders may contain bacteria that cause food poisoning.
