Your daily diet may not provide all the nutrients you need, but multivitamins can help, acting like an insurance policy for any nutritional gaps in your lifestyle. In some cases, men have different nutritional needs than women. However, even when narrowing down to one gender, the average shopper is faced with a confusing array of multivitamin options. It may help to review the selections nutrition experts have highlighted as some of the best multivitamins for men.
New Chapter Organics Every Man’s One Daily
A nutrition panel of doctors, dietitians and other experts, assembled by "Better Nutrition" magazine, rated this men's multivitamin from New Chapter Organics as one of 2010's best products. "These are not your average multis," reports the magazine. Each pill contains all-organic vitamins and minerals; digestion-boosting probiotics; phytonutrients like lipoic acid; and herbal extracts, including maca root, intended to boost male health and energy.
Vemma
If you find it difficult to swallow multivitamin pills, a liquid multivitamin product may appeal to you. Vemma's liquid multivitamin delivers 77 different minerals and vitamins suspended in liquid form with other nutrients, such as aloe vera extract. Dr. Mehmet Oz tells "Esquire" magazine that Vemma's multivitamin drink is one of his top two recommendations for men under the age of 60.
Kirkland Signature
Kirkland's multivitamin lines for men and women, sold through Costco, were praised by "Consumer Reports" magazine for providing USP-verified potency and full spectrum nutrition at budget-friendly prices. Men who don't want to consume excess iron can opt for the "Mature" multivitamin, which is identical to the traditional adult product but with no iron.
Centrum Silver
Registered dietitian Alison Eastwood tells "Men's Fitness" readers to avoid multivitamins with iron because excess iron can lead to health complications. Such complications can include impotence and poor joint health. The magazine recommends Centrum Silver as the best bet for men. It contains vitamins and minerals, plus antioxidants such as lycopene.
