You do not need to skip meals to lose weight quickly. In fact, with the proper food choices, you can eat more frequently and still lose weight. Losing weight quickly, and keeping it off, demands making healthy lifestyle changes that you maintain for the long-term. Keep your weight-loss plan flexible and be forgiving if you occasionally drift from your regimen. A healthy plan that incorporates dietary changes and regular exercise promotes weight loss of up to 8 lbs. per month. Consult doctor before starting a weight-loss regimen, particularly if you have any health concerns.

Step 1

Eliminate packaged and processed foods high in trans fat, sugar and syrup. These foods contribute to obesity due to their high caloric content. If you trim 500 calories from your current daily caloric total, you can lose around 4 lbs. per month.

Step 2

Consume several healthy snacks or meals every day. Whole foods such as leafy greens, citrus fruit, amaranth, quinoa, couscous, brown rice, lentils, beans, peas, berries and apples fill you up with dietary fiber and regulate your blood sugar levels so you feel energized throughout your day. These are low in calories but high in nutritive value.

Step 3

Eat slowly. Chew your food thoroughly to break it down and improve digestion. Sip plain water throughout your meal. These strategies give your digestive system time to register fullness so you do not overeat.

Step 4

Breathe deeply, write in a journal, meditate or do yoga stretches to relax. When you feel stressed or upset, you may eat for emotional reasons; practicing relaxation techniques can improve your mood so you are less likely to overeat or break your healthy diet habits.

Step 5

Exercise vigorously daily. A 60-minute workout such as jogging, kickboxing, dancing, skipping rope, swimming or climbing can burns more than 500 calories, depending on your weight and the intensity of the exercise. Daily workouts can result in your losing another 4 lbs. per month.
